Barcelona president Joan Laporta has come out with strong support for Hansi Flick after the tough 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the Champions League, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account. Laporta said he had a quick talk with Flick and liked the way the coach reacted to everything.

He mentioned that the team’s attitude after the game felt right to him, almost like they understood this might be one of those moments that push the group forward.

He said:

Laporta: I spoke with Flick during the return from London. I liked his reaction and the team’s. I think that result will be a turning point. A bad result in history has often pushed us toward a successful season. I’m sure of that.

Laporta reminded everyone that Barcelona has a long history of bouncing back, even when a result looks bad on paper.

Softfootball understands that Barcelona are preparing for their La Liga game against Alaves; Laporta also stated that strange or hard moments have sometimes led the club into very good runs. In his view, this Chelsea defeat might actually end up being one of those turning points, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

Despite outside noise and frustration from some supporters about the Barcelona head coach, Laporta repeated that he fully trusts Flick. He talked about the coach being calm, organised and already well settled at the club. According to him, Flick has earned respect inside the dressing room, and there is no reason to start doubting the work being done.

Laporta insisted that everyone at Barcelona shares both the joy and the blame, and nobody should be singled out just because the result went wrong one night. For him, the focus now is steadying the squad and building a response that shows they learnt something from the defeat.
