Kingsley Coman earns France call-up after Dembele and Doué withdrawal

France head coach Didier Deschamps has turned to Al Nassr’s winger Kingsley Coman following the withdrawals of Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué from the national squad, Softfootball reports.

Both players were forced out of camp due to injury setbacks, leaving Les Bleus short of attacking options ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Iceland.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Dembélé has been struggling with muscle discomfort since the start of the week, and Rennes teenager Doué, who was handed a call-up as one of the squad’s fresh faces, has also been ruled out.

The French Football Federation extended well wishes to the pair, writing on their X handle:

Coman’s recall provides Deschamps with experience and versatility on the flanks. The 28-year-old last featured for France last November and played for 20 minutes against Israel, and will now return to Les Bleus. Coman offers a natural solution to the absence of Dembélé and Doué.

Les Bleus are entering a crucial stage of their international campaign, with the manager keen to balance experienced profiles alongside emerging talents. Coman will join training immediately and is expected to be available for selection next Tuesday against Iceland.
