Dinamo Zagreb have completed the signing of Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan on a loan deal with an option to buy, with part of his salary included in the agreement.

Although the 27-year-old was strongly linked with a potential return to Olympique de Marseille, Softfootball understands his next chapter will instead continue in Croatia for the bext one year.

Bennacer has been a crucial figure for AC Milan since his arrival from Empoli in 2019. Renowned for his composure in possession, ball-winning ability, and tactical intelligence, the midfielder played a pivotal role in Milan’s 2021/22 Serie A title triumph. However, his recent seasons have been disrupted by injuries, limiting his game time at the San Siro.

Now, according to the latest updates from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, AC Milan has agreed to loan the 27-year-old midfielder to the Croatian club.

Fabrizio posted:

Exclusive story confirmed: Ismael Bennacer has joined Dinamo Zagreb on loan deal from AC Milan!

Deal also includes an option to buy.

Bennacer is an established midfielder with rich experience playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world. In the Milan jersey, he has made 137 appearances in Serie A and European competitions, and was named the best player at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations before moving from Empoli to Milan.

During his loan spell at Marseille, he played half a season and was one of the best players in the French league. His arrival represents a great reinforcement for the club and a significant step in strengthening Dinamo Zagreb’s team for upcoming challenges.

In an earlier post, Softfootball reported that former AC Milan and Italy Coach Gattuso has raised concerns about the complexity of Friday’s World cup qualifiers against Estonia.

The Croatian champions are aiming to strengthen their squad with experienced international talent as they continue to dominate domestically and push for greater success in European competitions.

The loan deal also includes a buy option clause, giving Dinamo Zagreb the chance to make Bennacer’s stay permanent if he adapts well and delivers on expectations. For AC Milan, this move allows the club to reduce their wage bill while giving Bennacer the opportunity to regain form and consistency with more playing time.
