Barcelona have doubled down on their stance that Fermín López will not be leaving the club this summer, unless the midfielder himself requests an exit and a truly extraordinary bid lands on the table.

As of today, the Catalan giants remain firm, with head coach Hansi Flick confident that López will stay at Camp Nou. However, he admitted that the final say ultimately lies with the player. To underline their position, Barça have raised López’s valuation from €70 million to €90 million, a clear signal that he is considered untouchable.

Chelsea have already tested Barcelona with an offer in the region of €50 million. Softfootball also understands that the London club handed López a 48-hour deadline to decide on his future. Yet, with no public statement from the player, the situation remains in limbo. Barcelona earlier rejected interest from Manchester United for the midfielder and are still maintaining their stance on this matter.

Inside Barcelona, both sporting director Deco and Flick are in full agreement: López is central to the club’s long-term project. His contributions were instrumental in last season’s domestic treble, making him too valuable to lose. The club has no intention of signing a replacement even if an unlikely sale were to occur, suggesting they would rather adapt internally than risk disrupting their current balance.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reinforced Barcelona’s position in a recent update on his official X account, stating:

“Barcelona maintain their position: no plans to sell Fermín López this summer following Chelsea’s bid. The only way for Fermín’s exit would be in case he decides to leave, with the future now in the player’s hands.”

For now, Barça’s message is simple: unless a “crazy” bid arrives, Fermín López is staying put.
