Newcastle Shock Europe with €90m Deal for Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade

Newcastle United have shocked the football world with a sensational swoop for Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade in a deal worth €90 million. The move came out of nowhere, especially as Bayern Munich were seriously interested earlier in the summer but talks broke down after the two clubs failed to agree on a fee. Softfootball reports that the Magpies stepped in quickly to seal the deal once Bayern’s negotiations collapsed.

This blockbuster signing also comes at a time when speculation continues to swirl around Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park. With Callum Wilson no longer at the club, Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s hierarchy see Woltemade as a potential long-term replacement for Isak should the Swedish international depart.

Transfer Journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed the deal via his X handle, writing:

For Newcastle, this is a major statement of intent to continue to strengthen for the challenges of the Premier League and uefa championsleague. 23 year old Woltemade has shown he can deliver at the top level, reason why newcastle sees him an opprtunity both for the present and the future.

The striker scored 17 goals and registered 3 assists in 33 appearances for Stuttgart last season, showing the world his ability to impact games. His arrival to Newcastle not only strengthens their forward depth but also highlights the club’s seriousness to compete with Europe’s elite for top level talents.
