Speculations around André Onana’s future have been hot this days, with some reports suggesting the goalkeeper could be on his way to West Ham on loan. But despite this rumours ,Softfootball undertsands that nothing is happening on that front.
Since joining from Inter Milan two years ago, Onana’s time in England has been a rollercoaster, shaky moments at the start, flashes of brilliance in big games, and gradually settling into life as United’s number one.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper has had his critics, but his calmness on the ball and ability to distribute the ball effectively from the backline have made him a key figure. Ruben Amorim is counting on him to anchor the defence this season, and the idea of letting him go, especially at this point, simply doesn’t favour the red devils.

Transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano orovided the latest update on onana’s situation via his X handle, saying:
“Sources playing down reports on André Onana joining West Ham on loan from Manchester United. No talks. Senne Lammens’ potential arrival at #MUFC (still in negotiations) doesn’t mean Onana leaves this summer.”
This update puts things into perspective. West Ham may be keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department, but its clear that Onana isn’t part of that story. United’s pursuit of Senne Lammens is about adding cover and competition, not replacing their first-choice goalkeeper.
Onana has also just returned to full fitness, making the squad against Fulham after missing time in pre-season. For him, the focus now is regaining sharpness and proving why United trusted him as their number one goalie. Letting Onana go this late in the window would not only leave a big hole but could also risk destabilising Amorim’s plans for the season.
