Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, a deal worth around £40 million. Softfootball had earlier reported that the deal for the midfielder was edging towards completion.
The 24 year old has agreed on personal terms with Newcastle United and is set to travel for medicals, a step before the deal is completed.

German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg on his verified X handle confirmed that both clubs have reached a verbal agreement for Jacob Ramsey.
He stated:
“Jacob #Ramsey to Newcastle – DONE DEAL!
“Full agreement with Aston Villa has been reached after the verbal agreement with the 24 y/o left midfielder was done. Long-term contract. Understand the transfer fee is £39m + £4m add-ons.
“Ramsey is on his way to undergo his medical with #NUFC. The deal is set to be finalised this week.”
Jacob Ramsey is set to sign a long term contract as the transfer is set at £39 million plus £4 million in add-ons. His arrival to Newcastle is seen as a boost to team as they prepare ahead for a demanding season in Premier League and other competitions.
Newcastle head coach, Eddie Howe has long admired Jacob Ramsey’s versatility, his ability to play across the midfield and also the wings. Ramsey is know for his energy, pace and versatility.
Despite injury setbacks, Ramsey was a key figure for Villa last season, scoring four goals and registering five assists across 46 appearances in all competitions. He rejected offers from West Ham United and other Premier League clubs.
Jacob Ramsey is travelling to undergo his medical with Newcastle, and the deal is expected to be officially completed before the end of the week.
