Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the Man of the Match of the UEFA Super Cup match between PSG and Tottenham Hotspurs. Softfootball followed as PSG scored to late goals to drag the game into penalties which they eventually won.
Tottenham had scored in the first half through Micky Van de Van to take a first lead into the break. The White Lily continued in the same vein in the second half as they scored an early goal after the restart via Spurs new captain, Christian Romeo.

Thomas Frank’s side could have grabbed a third but for PSG’s goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier made lots of stops to keep his side in the game. PSG would begin their come back with Lee Kang-in. Lee struck the ball in the net from distance after a corner kick was defended.
Goncalo Ramos would hand the big blow on Spurs with his header from a Hakimi cross. PSG would go ahead to win the game via penalties. Vitinha had missed his penalty first for PSG but new keeper, Chevalier saved Miky van de Van’s penalty to turn the momentum.
Spurs’ problems compounded when Mathys Tel missed his own penalty as well. Nuno Mendes scored the winning penalty as PSG claimed the first European trophy of the season.
After the game, Ousmane Dembele was named the Man of the Match of the game. He scored his own penalty as well.
PSG would go ahead to praise their new goalkeeper who made his debut for the club. The club posted a statement on the official website.
They said:
“The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper played his first official match with the capital club in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup, winning on penalties against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Wednesday 13 August at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy.
“Decisive during the penalty shootout, during which he notably saved Micky van de Ven’s attempt, the new Parisian made the most of his first appearance to win his first trophy in Rouge et Bleu.
“After arriving from LOSC last week, the 23-year-old goalkeeper has become the 516th player in the history of the capital club.”
Thomas Frank’s team will now return to England to begin their Premier League campaign against Burnley while PSG will still have time to prepare for their Ligue 1 season.
