Crystal Palace super hero, Dean Henderson cannot explain his emotions after Shield win

Dean Henderson became the super hero for Crystal Palace as he saved two penalties in the shoot-out against Liverpool. Softfootball watched on as Henderson displayed his penalty saving qualities to the world.

Henderson who had made a crucial save against Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season inside the same stadium praised his teammates for hanging on.

Henderson said to the club media via the website:

“These emotions are fantastic. You’d think obviously they were 2-1 up and we were out the game, but the lads stuck by it.

“The manager said we’d get a chance in the second half on transitions, we did. We stuck by it, defended great, and we deserved that in the end.”

Having not won trophies in their history, Palace have now won two trophies in 3 months. This achievement is something extraordinary to the club and fans.

Henderson explained what he felt:

“I love it, I love the big moments, I love being in that pressure moment. I really enjoyed that today, the homework we did for the penalties was great, so thanks to everyone behind the scenes that helped me with that.

“It’s incredible, we turned up today, they’re the favourites, they’ve got unbelievable players, they’re a great team and we knew it would be difficult.

“We had to defend them, we had to work so hard but you know what, two trophies in three months is incredible – and let’s write the next bit of history.”

Liverpool had taken the lead twice but Palace fought back twice via Mateta and Sarr’s goals and still built the mental capacity to win via penalties.

Head coach, Glasner had complained about poor transfer business with the club but a huge win like against Liverpool can start attracting players to the club.

The Eagles are also on the continent next season. They will hope that Glasner can imprint the same  footsteps he did at Frankfurt when he won the Europa League.
