Former Barcelona star, Sergino Dest helped his team PSV to win the first trophy in the Netherlands this season. PSV had beaten Go Ahead Eagles in the Johan Cruyff Shield played earlier today.
The Johan Cruyff Shield serves as the curtain raiser for the Dutch football season and the Super Cup match between the league winner and Dutch Cup winners. PSV had won the league on the last day beating Ajax to it and Go Ahead Eagles had won the Cup last season, the first ever silverware in their history.
The game served as a revenge for PSV as Go Ahead Eagles had defeated them on home turf in the semi finals of the Dutch Cup last season.

The shield game had started Eagles’ way when Mathis Suray put them ahead in the 35th minute. They had taken the lead into the break and almost took it all 90 minutes until a Gerrit Nauber own goal leveled the scores in the 78th minute.
Sergino Dest would then add more heartbreaks in the 81st minute as he scored the match winner for PSV. Watch as the players celebrated their shield win in a video posted on their X handle.
The club have also said goodbyes to three of their senior players in Nao Lang, Malik Tillman and Johan Bakayoko.
Lang has team up with Napoli for a fee of €25m while Malik Tillman moved to Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth €35m. Johan Bakayoko moved to RB Leipzing for €18m. A host of other players including Luuk De Jong and long serving goalkeeper, Walter Benitez left the Dutch team on a free.
After this triumph, the Dutch champions will now look to retain the Dutch title and try to win the double as well as doing well in Europe. Their first league game of the season is against Sparta Rotterdam.
