Flick wants €50m-rated Nigerian at Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has urged club director Deco to launch a bid for €50m-rated Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer, Softfootball reports.

The current African Player of the Year is adored by Bergamo fans after he helped La Dea help La Dea win their first ever European title when his hat-trick inspired a Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Sport, Lookman is open to leaving Atalanta this summer following the departure of manager Gian Gasperini under whom he has enjoyed massive success.

With the departure of Ansu Fati and the potential sale of Ferran Torres, Barcelona are looking to beef up their squad ahead of next season’s domestic triple title defence.

Barcelona failed to get their number one target for the left side of midfield, Nico Williams as the Spaniard signed a contract extension at his boyhood club, Athletico Bilbao. That was a major blow for the Catalana giants as they’ve hoped to play him alongside his best friend Lamine Yamal.

Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has openly flirted with the idea of playing with Yamal at Barcelona and the Spanish champions maybe looking towards his direction.

Softfootball reported earlier that Barcelona has made Marcus Rashford their priority signing for this summer. The England international spent the second part of last season on loan at Aston Villa where he performed really well.

However, they could not pay the £40million Manchester United wanted to make the move a permanent one. The 27-year-old is back at Manchester but training alone as manager Reuben Amorim wants him sold this summer.

Lookman can be a very good option for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona and the prospect of playing alongside Pedri, Gavi and Yamal could be devastating for defenders.
