Barcelona are ready to go all out in their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, with manager Hansi Flick reportedly giving his approval for the move, and the chances of a deal with Manchester United becoming a reality have taken a step forward according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg
Sources indicate to Softfootball that Rashford’s priority is to join Barcelona this summer, and he has been waiting for a call from the Spanish club. The English winger has not been approached by Premier League clubs, with Aston Villa bucking at a chance of triggering his £40-45m price tag.
However, Barcelona remains a strong possibility for the Manchester United attacker, who scored 11 goals and nine assists on a six-month loan deal at Aston Villa last season. According to Florian Plettenberg‘s tweet on X, Barca want to try again for Rashford and are prepared to go all-in.

Softfootball understands that Hansi Flick has given the green light for Barcelona to pursue a deal for Rashford, whom the club hopes can be signed on loan with an option to buy him permanently next summer.
Barcelona will hold new contacts for Rashford, who is willing to significantly reduce his wages at Man United in order for the Catalans to be able to fit them into their salary limit. As such, it would be no surprise to see an agreement on personal terms reached in the coming weeks.
Rashford has made it clear that he will only consider a move to Barcelona as long as it is a possibility for him. While this is very frustrating for Man United, who want to sell him in order to raise funds for their own transfers, there is little that they can do while the England international’s stance is this.
Barca are still eyeing Luis Diaz of Liverpool , but they face complications in that transfer, as the Premier League champions branded the player ‘not for sale’ following the sudden death of Diogo Jota.
In an earlier update, Softfootball reported that Manchester United battles Sporting in a surprise move to sign Luis Suarez. United are in target to sign Luis Suarez, the Colombian striker who enjoyed a standout season with Almeria.
It is understood by Softfootball that Suarez has attracted the attention of several major European clubs following an impressive 2024/25 campaign. The Colombian scored 27 goals in 41 Segunda Division games last season, taking his Almeria tally to 37 goals in 76 league appearances.
Sporting are desperate to bring Suarez to Portugal, having identified him as their top target to replace Viktor Gyokeres. United are also keen on Gyokeres, though a deal for the Swede doesn’t look likely as things stand.
