Ola Aina over the moon after extending Nottingham Forest contract

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has expressed his delight over his new three-year deal with Nottingham Forest, Softfootball can report.

The 28-year-old, who was widely considered as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League last season, will remain at Forest until 2028.

The Nigerian international, who has been linked with Manchester City and other top Europeans’ clubs, now put an end to speculation after penning a new contract.

Speaking after signing new contract, Aina told the club’s official website that he is happy and fully focused on preparing for the new season.

“I’m over the moon, I can’t wait to continue this journey with the club. It’s always felt like a home ever since I joined, and I’m happy to be here. Now my focus is on preparing for the new season well and getting back to hard work,” Aina said.

Aina played a pivotal role in manager Nuno Espirito Santo-led squad last season, helping Forest finish seventh in the Premier League last season to qualify for the Europa Conference League play-offs.

The Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has lauded Aina’s contributions to the team, adding that the defender epitomises the culture and hard work they expect from everyone associated with the club.

“Ola has skill, determination and character in abundance. He epitomises the culture and hard work we expect from everyone associated with Forest. He has had a big influence since his arrival here and we look forward to continuing that journey together to help us achieve incredible things,” Marinakis said.

Softfootball informed earlier about Aina signing his contract extension with the side that finished eighth last season in the Premier League. Aina joined Nottingham Forest on a one-year contract in July 2023 following his release from Torino. The club activated a one-year contract extension for him in May 2024, before he finally signed new three-year deal.

Aina has amassed serious minutes for Forest, featuring 35 times in the Premier League last season with two goals and one assist.
