Tottenham are making plan to move Ramsey from the Villa Park

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey after initiating contact with the player’s representatives over a potential summer switch.

Softfootball understands that Ramsey’s choice is a mutual interest from both scouts at Tottenham and new manager Thomas Frank, who was said to be an admirer of the England player.

According to former Aston Villa and Manchester United scout Mick Brown, who told Football Insider that Ramsey would be open to a move to North London as he looks to reignite his career with regular first-team football.

Spurs scouts have reportedly tracked the Villa academy graduate throughout the season, and recent developments suggest Ramsey is considering a fresh challenge following frustrations over his role at Villa Park.

And also, this buttresses the fact that Coach Unai Emery doesn’t find the midfielder fashionable for his plan going forward. Additionally, Tottenham’s offer for the midfielder generates pure profit and eases their current Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) concerns.

“Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Jacob Ramsey,” Brown told Football Insider. “They’ve spoken to his agent, and the player is open to a move. He’s unsure about his long-term role at Villa, so a fresh start at Spurs could make sense for both sides.”

Ramsey, who broke into the Villa first team through their youth system, remains highly rated but has struggled to cement a consistent place in Emery’s plans, as he only started 19 games last season in all competitions.

With Villa facing pressure to balance the books, cashing in on one of their prized academy products could provide much-needed financial flexibility with Tottenham’s response.

Recall that Softfootball earlier reported that Tottenham Hotspur are parting ways with their striker Richarlison this summer, which could provide the income they need for Ramsey.

Meanwhile, as Tottenham continue its squad reshaping under Thomas Frank, Ramsey looks like a versatile midfield addition with Premier League experience that can make them compete seamlessly next season.
