Newcastle turn attention to Kudus after Mbeumo and João Pedro setbacks

Newcastle United have shifted focus to Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus after failing in their pursuit of João Pedro and Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to reports from Football Insider, Kudus has an £85 million release clause in his current deal with the Hammers, a fee Newcastle are prepared to consider as they seek to add firepower to Eddie Howe’s frontline. Kudus appeared 35 times last season, scoring five times and creating four assists.

There has been an intense tug-of-war between Newcastle and Chelsea for João Pedro, which ultimately ended in disappointment for the Tyneside club.

Having hit a brick wall in their chase after Chelsea agreed to a big-money move for Brighton striker Joao Pedro as reported by Softfootball and Mbeumo, who reportedly has his sights set on a move to Manchester United, Newcastle have now approached West Ham’s Kudus for a potential switch to St James’ Park.

Should Newcastle succeed in landing Kudus, Howe would have a more dynamic attacking setup next season, a necessary boost as they prepare to balance domestic and European football.
