Leeds United have reached an agreement in principle with manager Daniel Farke over a new contract that will keep him at Elland Road until June 2029, signalling the club’s commitment to long-term stability under the German tactician.

According to reports, the broad terms of the extension have been agreed, although the paperwork still needs to be finalised and signed. Farke’s current contract is due to expire next summer, making the development an important step in securing his future as Leeds continue to establish themselves in the Premier League.

Farke joined Leeds in July 2023 after the club’s relegation from the top flight. His first season ended in disappointment when Leeds lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton, but he responded by guiding the Whites to the Championship title in the following campaign and securing their return to the Premier League.

The 49-year-old subsequently helped Leeds finish 14th in their first season back in the top division, strengthening his position within the club. Their encouraging start to the current campaign has further underlined the progress made under his leadership, with Leeds sitting seventh in the league after an unbeaten opening run of six matches.

Although Leeds recently suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, the performance did little to diminish the broader optimism surrounding the team’s development. Arsenal produced a second-half comeback to claim victory after Leeds had threatened to take points away from the reigning champions.

The contract agreement reflects the club’s desire to build on that progress rather than risk uncertainty over the manager’s future.

Leeds’ hierarchy have previously expressed their satisfaction with Farke’s work and their shared ambition to continue developing the team.

With the formalities still outstanding, an official announcement is expected once the remaining details have been completed. For now, the agreement in principle represents a significant boost for Leeds as they look to maintain their Premier League momentum and build a more competitive side under Farke.
