Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with Thibaut Courtois over a new contract, with the Spanish giants keen to ensure the Belgian goalkeeper remains at the Santiago Bernabéu beyond his current deal.
According to reports, the club considers Courtois one of the best goalkeepers in the world and a key figure in their long-term plans. His current contract expires in June 2027, but a verbal agreement has reportedly been reached, with the formal signing expected to take place soon.
The agreement means Courtois is expected to continue defending Real Madrid’s goal during the 2027/28 season, providing continuity and experience in a position that remains crucial to the club’s ambitions.
Courtois has established himself as an important member of the Madrid squad through his performances, shot-stopping ability and experience in major European competitions. Keeping him at the club would offer stability as Real Madrid continue building a team capable of competing for domestic and European honours.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also moved to secure the future of another important talent, with Arda Güler agreeing to a new contract until 2032.
The Turkish midfielder has attracted attention for his technical ability, creativity and potential to become a significant figure in Madrid’s midfield. The long-term agreement underlines the club’s confidence in his development and their intention to keep him as part of their future plans.
Together, the reported Courtois agreement and Güler’s extended deal reflect Real Madrid’s approach of combining experienced stars with emerging talent.
While Courtois is expected to provide stability between the posts, Güler represents an investment in the club’s next generation.
Real Madrid will now look to formalise Courtois’ reported agreement, while continuing to develop Güler as they plan for the seasons ahead.
