Ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON 2027 qualification, the Super Eagles have been affected by a series of injuries to key players.
Victor Osimhen got injured during Galatasaray’s 3–2 win over Başakşehir in the Süper Lig on Friday, 4th September 2026, despite scoring in the 16th minute to open the scoring for his team.
Osimhen was subbed off in the 32nd minute, forced out due to a groin injury, and it is expected he could be out for two weeks.
Osimhen is not the only injured player. Tochukwu Nnadi has also sustained an injury, while Zaidu Sanusi picked up a knock in Liga Portugal matchday 4 during Porto’s 3–1 win over Académico de Viseu on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
The Nigeria Super Eagles are placed in Group L for the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers.
