FIFA has changed the international break calendar, meaning the Super Eagles and other national teams will now have two windows instead of the usual three.
Softfootball gathers that the initial international break was scheduled after EPL matchday 3, but the updated calendar now places it after matchday 5.
Here are the confirmed 2026 FIFA international break dates:
- September 21 – October 6 — A 16‑day international window, allowing teams to play up to four matches.
- November 9 – November 17 — The second and final international window of the year.
With this new format, it is clear that the Super Eagles and other national teams will likely play fewer international games. Before this adjustment, there were three international breaks, but FIFA has now reduced them to two.
