Mykhailo Mudryk is closing in on a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur, with the Ukrainian winger giving the green light to reunite with Roberto De Zerbi.
Softfootball understands that Mudryk wants the Tottenham move and has put Leeds United and other options on hold as he looks to work under De Zerbi again.
The pair previously worked together at Shakhtar Donetsk, and that relationship has now become an important factor in Mudryk’s decision.
Club-to-club discussions between Tottenham and Chelsea are well underway, with only final details remaining before the loan agreement can be completed.
Leeds have been pushing for almost two weeks but have failed to make a breakthrough. Sunderland, Brentford and Coventry have also considered moves for the Chelsea winger, but Mudryk’s preference has now made Tottenham the clear priority.
Softfootball previously reported that Mudryk wanted to remain in the Premier League and that Chelsea were prepared to consider loan proposals to help him regain regular playing time following his return to the squad.
Tottenham’s interest in Mudryk has also developed alongside their plans for Tosin Adarabioyo. Spurs initially made an enquiry about a loan but are now prepared to pursue a permanent deal for the Chelsea defender if they can also complete Mudryk’s loan.
The situation has been influenced by complications around the Iliman Ndiaye deal and Tottenham’s loan allocation.
Several clubs from Italy have also shown interest in the winger, while RC Strasbourg remain among the potential destinations being considered.
Chelsea signed Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 after a major transfer battle, but the winger has struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-team player at Stamford Bridge.
Mudryk is now understood to have agreed to join Spurs, with the final negotiations between the clubs expected to be completed shortly.
The Ukrainian’s priority has always been regular Premier League football, and he now appears set to get that opportunity under De Zerbi at Tottenham.
