More details have emerged on Bradley Barcola’s move to Liverpool, with the Premier League club agreeing a total package worth £123 million for the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Softfootball understands the final fee is structured as £106 million plus £17 million in add-ons, after PSG reduced their initial £145 million asking price to the figure eventually accepted by Liverpool.
PSG had been determined to secure a fee higher than the £117 million Morgan Rogers and £116 million Elliot Anderson deals, while surpassing the €140 million package that took Yan Diomande to Real Madrid also became an important objective for the French champions.
The deal represents another major sale for PSG, who have generated close to €400 million in player sales this summer from players not considered central to their project.
Barcola has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Liverpool and is now expected to formalise his £123 million move in the coming days.
We reported two days ago that Liverpool had reached an agreement in principle with PSG for their No.1 target after weeks of difficult negotiations.
Barcola became Liverpool’s priority following the failed pursuit of Diomande, with PSG’s arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts helping facilitate his departure.
Personal terms are already agreed, with the remaining details expected to be ironed out on Friday morning. Barcola will then undergo his medical before signing a long-term contract.
Barcola’s pace, dribbling ability, movement and versatility make him an attractive option for Liverpool’s attacking plans. The PSG forward can operate from either flank while also contributing centrally, giving the Premier League club additional flexibility in the final third.
