Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will meet in North London on Saturday evening for Gameweek Two of the 2026/27 Premier League, with both sides arriving after midweek EFL Cup victories.
Roberto De Zerbi’s expensively assembled Tottenham side endured a nightmare start to the league campaign, suffering a deserved 3-0 defeat at Brentford despite handing competitive debuts to four summer signings.
However, Spurs quickly responded in the EFL Cup, cruising to a 5-1 victory over Charlton at home on Wednesday to ease some of the early pressure surrounding De Zerbi’s project.
Tottenham will now look to carry that momentum into the Premier League as they target their first points of the campaign.
Newcastle, meanwhile, were denied victory on the opening weekend after Liverpool scored from a 99th-minute penalty to secure a 2-2 draw.
The Magpies then faced another test in the EFL Cup, narrowly overcoming Championship side West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at St James’ Park to book their place in the third round.
Newcastle will also take confidence from their recent record in this fixture, having won their last two Premier League visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by 2-1, including their latest victory in February last season.
With both teams looking for their first league win, Saturday’s encounter promises to be an important early test for De Zerbi and his Tottenham rebuild.

Team News
Tottenham will be without Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odebert (all knee) Mohammed Kudus (thigh) and James Maddison (shoulder) due to injury, while Pape Sarr (thigh) is still a doubt.
As for Newcastle, Dan Burn remains out with ankle ligament damage, while Joelinton (groin) and Tino Livramento (calf) are also unavailable for selection.
However, new signing Gonzalez could be handed his full debut in midfield, which would likely see either Lewis Miley or fellow summer addition Sean Steur drop out of the starting lineup.
