Nicolas Jackson will sign his five-year contract as a new Aston Villa player today, Friday morning, with the club statement expected to follow.
Softfootball reported yesterday that Jackson’s transfer from Chelsea to Aston Villa was complete after the Senegal international successfully completed his medical and signed his initial paperwork with the Premier League club.
The deal is worth £65 million, making Jackson a club-record signing for Aston Villa as Unai Emery continues to strengthen his squad.
The move also reunites Jackson with Emery, who previously worked with the striker during their time at Villarreal. The Villa manager is understood to have played an important role in convincing the forward to move to Villa Park.
Jackson’s transfer represents another significant deal between Aston Villa and Chelsea this summer, following Morgan Rogers’ move in the opposite direction.
The 25-year-old joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 for around £32 million, scoring 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues.
However, Jackson’s time at Stamford Bridge was inconsistent, with competition for places also affecting his role. He spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich before returning to England and ultimately securing a permanent departure from Chelsea.
Villa believe Jackson can become a major attacking figure under Emery, with his pace, movement and ability to lead the line expected to add another dimension to their forward options.
For Chelsea, the £65m package provides a significant return on their initial investment and creates additional room for further squad changes before the transfer window closes.
Jackson is now set to begin a new chapter at Villa Park, with Emery counting on the striker to provide a major attacking boost.
