Super Falcons striker Gift Monday and midfielder Deborah Abiodun have returned to Washington Spirit after representing Nigeria at the 2026 WAFCON.
In a viral image shared online, the duo were seen being welcomed by the team on their arrival. Their return comes after the Super Falcons unfortunately performed poorly at the tournament, losing 1–0 to Cameroon in the quarter‑finals, then falling to South Africa in their playoff chance for Women’s World Cup qualification.
With this, the Super Falcons will miss the Women’s World Cup for the first time. Softfootball understands that the NFF has taken action, having sacked the technical crew due to the poor performance.
