Aston Villa are making significant progress in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho after submitting an official proposal to Chelsea for the Argentine forward.

Talks between the clubs have advanced, with Villa’s offer based on an initial loan agreement that includes an obligation to buy. Sources indicate the conditions attached to Villa’s obligation are considerably easier to trigger than the structure proposed by AS Roma.

The deal is now awaiting the player’s final approval, with Garnacho’s decision expected to determine whether the transfer moves to the final stages.

Softfootball previously reported that Aston Villa had lodged an official bid after opening discussions with Chelsea earlier this week, with manager Unai Emery identifying Garnacho as a priority target to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Negotiations are now progressing on multiple fronts, with talks ongoing between Aston Villa and the player’s representatives as the Midlands club look to convince Garnacho to make the move.

If Garnacho gives the green light, Aston Villa are confident the deal can be completed, putting them in a strong position ahead of other interested clubs.
