Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, completing one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

The England international has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the agreement including an option to extend until June 2033.

Chelsea have paid a fixed £117 million fee to Aston Villa, with no add-ons included in the deal. Xabi Alonso played a key role in convincing Rogers to choose Stamford Bridge, with the Chelsea head coach identifying the versatile forward as a priority addition for the club’s attacking rebuild.

Speaking after completing his move, Softfootball gathered that Rogers expressed his excitement at joining the Blues.

Morgan Rogers said:

I’m happy to join the biggest club in London.

Chelsea are the biggest in London. A club I’ve always admired since I was a kid. I’ve had a few conversations with Xabi Alonso.

It’s important for me to be here that I need to understand what the manager’s like, how he is, how he wants to operate. It very much fits with the way I see the game…

Rogers becomes one of Xabi Alonso’s marquee signings as Chelsea continue rebuilding ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the versatile attacker expected to play a key role in the Spaniard’s new-look side.
