Arsenal have entered the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, with the Gunners exploring the possibility of hijacking Chelsea’s long-standing pursuit of the French centre-back.
The North London club’s interest has intensified following William Saliba’s serious back injury during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, prompting Arsenal to assess defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.
No agreement has been reached with Crystal Palace, and no transfer has been finalised. However, Arsenal are understood to be considering an offer worth around £60 million as they weigh up a move for the 26-year-old.

Chelsea remain firmly in the picture after tracking Lacroix for several months. Softfootball reported in late June that the France international was closing in on a move to Stamford Bridge following an impressive campaign with Crystal Palace, with the proposed transfer valued at around €55 million after the World Cup.
With both London rivals monitoring the defender’s situation, Crystal Palace could face another major defensive departure if negotiations progress in the coming weeks.
