Galatasaray have officially confirmed the signing of French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Burnley on a season-long loan, less than 72 hours after Softfootball exclusively reported that the move was nearing completion.

The Turkish champions revealed that the agreement includes a £3 million loan fee and a £22.5 million conditional purchase option, which could become mandatory depending on the midfielder’s appearances during the 2026/27 campaign.

As part of the deal, Ugochukwu will earn a net fixed salary of €2.65 million for the season as he begins a new chapter in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Earlier this week, reports had it that the 22-year-old was set to complete a permanent move to Galatasaray, with only the final stages of the transfer remaining. The club has now confirmed the loan arrangement, with Ugochukwu already taking part in his first training session as he integrates into Okan Buruk’s squad.

Standing at 1.90 metres, Ugochukwu arrives with valuable experience gained at Rennes, Chelsea, and Burnley. Known for his physical presence, ball-winning ability, and composure in midfield, he is expected to strengthen Galatasaray’s defensive options as the club prepares to compete on both domestic and European fronts.

The midfielder also remains eligible to represent Nigeria internationally despite featuring for France at youth level, adding another layer of intrigue to his career development.

Galatasaray view Ugochukwu as an important addition to their squad, and the conditional purchase clause gives the club the opportunity to secure his services permanently should he make the desired impact during the upcoming season.
