Chelsea remain in negotiations with Rayo Vallecano over the signing of Pep Chavarría as the Blues continue searching for a solution below the defender’s release clause.
The two clubs are still in talks, although there is growing frustration within Chelsea after Rayo Vallecano reportedly changed their valuation during negotiations.
Softfootball understands Chelsea were initially informed that an offer of €15 million would be enough to secure the Spanish left-back. The Blues matched that figure, only for Rayo Vallecano to increase their demands and request a higher fee.

The Blues reportedly agreed personal terms with Chavarría earlier this month as Xabi Alonso continues reshaping his squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Spaniard viewed as a key addition to strengthen the left side of the defence.
Despite the setback, Chelsea remain keen on completing the deal and are exploring different structures in an attempt to reach an agreement without triggering the release clause.
