Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is set to undergo surgery after sustaining a wrist injury during Serie A Udinese’s recent league clash with Genoa.

The 24-year-old, who has established himself as the club’s number one shot-stopper, will have the procedure carried out in the coming days according to a statement from the Serie A club.

Softfootball understands the injury is expected to keep the former Rotterdam goalkeeper sidelined for several weeks.

Maduka Okoye has already been ruled out of Udinese’s upcoming Serie A fixture against Monza, leaving Kosta Runjaic to plan for his absence in the near term.

The Nigerian has made 14 league appearances for Udinese this season, having cemented his place as first-choice goalkeeper during the second half of last campaign.

His absence is expected to be a very big notable blow for the club as they navigate the busy festive fixture list without him.
