Southampton manager Russell Martin expects Paul Onuachu to be available for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Brighton, easing fears over a knock picked up during last weekend’s home defeat to Liverpool.
Onuachu had been putting in an impressive shift before he was forced off in the 52nd minute of the 3-2 loss. Softfootball understands that the Nigeria international’s withdrawal was precautionary rather than a reflection of anything serious, according to his manager.

Speaking at a press conference, Martin offered a positive update:
Paul’s being assessed, so fingers crossed Paul will come through alright. It’s not a bad injury at all which is really good news for us, just a niggle so hopefully we can manage that and he can be involved.
The 30-year-old has made six league appearances for Southampton this season, and Martin will be keen to have him available as the Saints look to build some momentum against Brighton this weekend, with squad depth still a concern up front for the struggling side.
