Joe Cole Slams Referee Over Ndidi’s Escape Against Chelsea

Former England international Joe Cole believes Wilfred Ndidi should have been sent off for a reckless tackle on Cole Palmer during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon at the King Power.

Referee Andy Madley only issued a yellow card for the challenge, a decision that stood even after a VAR review of the incident during the match.

Softfootball gathered that Cole didn’t hold back on his assessment while speaking on TNT Sports afterward. He said:

That tackle, he could hurt him there. If VAR is ever going to step in for reckless endangerment of a player, it’s a terrible tackle.

Cole suggested the tackle came from frustration, with Leicester struggling badly in the game at the time it happened.

This is a game Leicester were miles off it and at the height of their frustration. He’s lost his rag. He should be sent off,

he added, noting the fallout had the tackle led to something worse for Palmer.
