Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has officially called up Ederson to replace Wesley França in the Seleção squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Softfootball earlier reported that Wesley would miss the tournament after suffering an injury on Saturday, 6 June 2026.

The decision comes shortly after Manchester United confirmed Ederson as their first signing of the summer, with all documents completed for the €45 million package. The midfielder now heads straight into World Cup duty as Brazil adjust their squad.

As Wesley França makes way for Ederson, attention also turns to Neymar, who recently picked up an injury. The forward is currently undergoing his recovery programme and is expected to miss Brazil’s first two or three matches of the tournament.

Despite the setback, Neymar will still wear the iconic number 10 shirt for Brazil, a symbol of his status and importance within the squad.
