Softfootball can confirm Manchester United have officially opened nominations for the 2026 Fan of the Year Award, inviting supporters to recognise fellow fans who have gone above and beyond for the club, its fanbase, and the wider United community.

The announcement comes during a positive period for Manchester United, following goalkeeper Senne Lammens being voted the Premier League Signing of the Season after an outstanding debut campaign. The Belgian shot-stopper finished ahead of several high-profile contenders, including Chelsea forward João Pedro.

The award, named in honour of the late Ian Stirling, was established in 2023 following the passing of the lifelong Manchester United supporter at the age of 57. Stirling was widely respected for his dedication to the club, serving as a fan representative on both the Fans’ Forum and Fans’ Advisory Board, while also contributing as a representative for the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust.

Last year’s winner was David Price, secretary of the Plymouth Supporters’ Club, whose efforts helped hundreds of Devon-based supporters travel across the country to follow the Reds both at Old Trafford and away from home.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have also continued to highlight the early success of Michael Carrick, whose strong start as manager has generated optimism around the club as preparations continue for the new season.
