Vincent Kompany on Arteta’s comments on players being fresh in Ligue1 and Bundesliga: “I don’t want to comment much on that. I played in the Premier League for many years…”.

“I don’t think it was meant as a criticism of Bayern or PSG, but rather a discussion. In England, you have 38 league games, the league cup, FA Cup, no winter break”.

“It’s not for me to discuss that, but it’s legitimate. Jürgen Klopp spoke about that many times too”,

Speaking after a tense period that also saw PSG narrowly outscore Bayern in a chaotic Champions League semi-final first leg, Kompany made it clear that the discussion is more about structural differences than criticism. Softfootball believes his response reflects a manager focused more on performance than external narratives.

Drawing from his years in the Premier League, Kompany acknowledged the unique demands placed on English clubs, especially with multiple competitions and no winter break.

He stressed that Arteta’s comments should not be misinterpreted as a dig at Bayern or PSG, but rather as a valid point about scheduling intensity.

The mention of Jürgen Klopp, who has repeatedly raised similar concerns in the past, further reinforces that this is an ongoing conversation within football, not a fresh controversy.

In his calm and composed tone, Kompany essentially distanced himself from turning the debate into a headline battle, instead recognizing the legitimacy of the issue without fueling comparisons.

His stance shows a level of maturity, especially at a time when Bayern are dealing with both on pitch challenges and high expectations following their recent performances in Europe.

Away from the debate, Kompany has also been in the spotlight for reportedly turning down media opportunities after Bayern’s recent success, choosing to remain focused on his role rather than stepping into punditry. That decision underlines his commitment to building something solid at Bayern rather than getting distracted by external attention.

Softfootball believes Kompany’s response is a reminder that while debates around league intensity will always exist, what truly matters is how teams adapt and with Bayern still in the fight despite recent defensive concerns, his focus appears to be exactly where it should be.
