Softfootball understands Sunderland have no plans to part ways with manager Régis Le Bris at the end of the season, regardless of whether the club secures European football, according to Fabrizio Romano via his x handle.

Fabrizio stated:

Sunderland are currently not planning to part ways with Regis Le Bris in any case, as the intention is to continue with the coach also next season.

In their first season back in the Premier League, Sunderland have continued their upward trajectory and currently sit 11th, exceeding expectations despite recent setbacks including a dramatic 4–3 defeat to Aston Villa in one of the most chaotic matches of the season.

Recent speculation had suggested the French coach could be under pressure if Sunderland failed to qualify for Europe, but the club remains fully supportive following an impressive campaign.

Le Bris was widely praised last season for guiding Sunderland to promotion from the Championship via the playoffs, defeating Sheffield United in the final.

Elsewhere, Chelsea FC have officially sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after just 106 days in charge. The club has appointed Calum McFarlane as interim head coach until June, tasking him with stabilizing the team during the final stretch of the 2025/26 season.
