FIFA has officially kicked off the final countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026, announcing on their official x handle that today 22nd April 2026 marks it 50 days remaining until the tournament begins.

However, excitement around the tournament has been accompanied by growing concern over ticket affordability. With softfootball earlier indicating that tickets originally priced at around $10,990 have been resold for as much as $36,000 on secondary markets, raising fears that many fans could be priced out.

The 2026 edition will be historic, featuring 48 teams for the first time and hosted across three countries United States, Canada, and Mexico making it the largest World Cup in history with 104 matches scheduled.

FIFA has also confirmed that the final phase of ticket sales begins on April 22, giving fans worldwide access to the remaining tickets for all matches.
