Liam Rosenior apologized to Chelsea supporters at full time after their latest defeat, in a moment captured with his hand on his chest while surrounded by players.

Chelsea’s 3–0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. extended a disastrous run that has now seen the club lose five straight Premier League matches without scoring a single goal. Softfootball has gathered that this is reportedly Chelsea’s worst in such sequence since 1912.

The defeat also allowed Brighton to move above Chelsea in the standings, further damaging the Blues’ season and effectively ending realistic hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

According to a post shared by Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Rosenior speaking after the match admitted the performance was down to a lack of desire rather than tactics. He further described the display as “nowhere near good enough,” adding to earlier comments where he branded it ”unacceptable in every aspect” and “indefensible”.

Romano posted:

Liam Rosenior: Tonight was not about tactical. This was about desire, spirit, courage and I did not see enough of that. Nowhere near good enough.

The manager’s blunt assessment reflects growing frustration after a sharp decline since his appointment in January 2026 on a long-term deal following the dismissal of Enzo Maresca. What began as a fresh project has now turned into a crisis period.

Supporters reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with many fans arguing that the apology is not enough after weeks of poor results and lifeless performances. Some have openly called for Rosenior to resign, while others believe responsibility lies equally with the players and broader club decisions.

Critics also interpreted some of Rosenior’s remarks as shifting blame onto the squad, increasing scrutiny on his leadership during the slump.

With Chelsea sliding further down the table and confidence collapsing, the pressure on both manager and players is now at its highest point of the season.
