The 73-year-old tactician steps in after the dismissal of Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties just 72 days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a poor run of results.

Queiroz arrives with a wealth of international experience, having previously managed several national teams and built a reputation for tactical discipline and strong defensive organization. His appointment signals Ghana’s intent to stabilize the squad quickly ahead of the global tournament.

Softfootball understands that his immediate priority will be to tighten Ghana’s defensive structure while maintaining their attacking threat, as the Black Stars aim to regain form after a difficult spell.

With limited time before the World Cup, expectations are already rising around how quickly Queiroz can implement his philosophy and turn things around.
