Liverpool star ruled out for Spurs clash, says Arne Slot

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that key defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the crucial Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham on Thursday.

The right-back, who limped off during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth, is still undergoing rehab and remains a doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Plymouth.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot stated, “He is going to miss the game tomorrow. We have to see if he is able to play on Sunday, but what we do know is that he is not available for tomorrow.”

While Alexander-Arnold has already resumed work with the rehab team, Slot did not provide a clear timeline for his return.

With Liverpool trailing 1-0 on aggregate, the absence of their vice-captain adds to the challenge against Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs side.

Meanwhile, Slot has also called for English football authorities to expand matchday squads to 23 players, citing the high volume of games played by clubs competing in multiple tournaments.
