Since his £36.5 million summer transfer from Bologna, Zirkzee has struggled to find form, scoring only once in 16 appearances despite his promising debut against Fulham.

The 23-year-old’s struggles extend to the international stage, where he was recently benched for the Netherlands’ Nations League games against Germany and Hungary and failed to impress against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lewandowski, who worked with Zirkzee during their time at Bayern Munich, is confident the Dutch forward will eventually thrive.

Speaking to “Rio Ferdinand Presents,” the Barcelona star said, “He plays amazing with his back to goal, holds the ball well, and has good finishing. He just needs time to adjust to the expectations at a big club like Manchester United.”

Praising Zirkzee’s technical abilities and unselfish play, Lewandowski highlighted the striker’s potential to both score and assist.

“He’s not just a goalscorer; he creates space and opportunities for his teammates. If used correctly, he can be a valuable asset,” the Polish striker added.

Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford hinges on him rediscovering his form, and Lewandowski’s endorsement serves as a reminder of his underlying talent.

Fans and manager Ruben Amorim will be hoping the Dutchman can overcome his current challenges and fulfill his potential.
