Kyle Walker has officially announced his retirement from international football on March 10, 2026, bringing an end to a remarkable career with the England national football team as reported by fabrizio romano via their x handle.
Romano reported;
Kyle Walker retires from international football after 96 caps with England.
The experienced right-back finishes with 96 caps for England, representing the Three Lions across five major tournaments. Walker played a key role during England’s run to the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-finals and also featured in the UEFA Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 finals, cementing his place among the most consistent defenders of his generation.

His decision to step away from international duty follows a period where he had not been included in recent squads under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Away from the international stage, Walker’s club career has also undergone significant changes over the past year. In January 2025, he left Manchester City on a six-month loan to AC Milan.
Reflecting on that decision later, Walker admitted he felt “selfish” for leaving while the team was going through a difficult period, explaining that he wanted regular minutes to prove he could still compete at the highest level.
Later that year, in July 2025, Walker completed a permanent move to Burnley FC for a fee of around £5 million, signing a two-year contract with the club.
Softfootball reported that As of March 2026, the veteran defender remains an important figure in Burnley’s squad, having made 27 Premier League appearances during the 2025–26 season while continuing to bring leadership and experience to the side.
