Kane to Arsenal Not as Shocking as Sol Campbell Move

Darren Bent has played down speculation that Harry Kane could make a sensational switch to Arsenal, insisting that while such a move would be shocking, it wouldn’t rival the infamous transfer of Sol Campbell.

Kane, who joined Bayern Munich 18 months ago, continues to dominate European football, netting 28 goals in as many games this season.

While there’s no concrete evidence of his desire to return to England, reports of a release clause in his contract have fueled rumors of a Premier League comeback.

Manchester United has been frequently linked with the former Spurs talisman, while Arsenal legend Paul Merson recently suggested that Mikel Arteta should make a bold move for the England captain.

Bent, an Arsenal supporter and former Tottenham striker, doubts Kane would ever cross the North London divide but believes Campbell’s move remains unmatched in terms of shock factor.

“If Man United are interested in Kane, other clubs will be too,” Bent told talkSPORT. “I’d take him in a heartbeat. But I still think Sol Campbell’s move was bigger. Kane is one of Spurs’ greatest-ever players, England captain, and a Premier League legend.

“However, he’s already left Spurs once. Sol Campbell told everyone he wasn’t leaving, then joined Arsenal for free. That was the ultimate betrayal. Bayern paid £100 million for Kane—he never promised Spurs he’d stay.

“I don’t think he’ll come to Arsenal, but I’d love to see it. That guy guarantees you goals.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s lack of activity in the January transfer window may already be backfiring. Injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have left Arteta short of attacking options, and Gabriel Martinelli’s hamstring issue will sideline him for a month.

To make matters worse, Kai Havertz reportedly experienced muscle discomfort during Arsenal’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai, leaving the Gunners sweating over his fitness.
