Despite his struggles, Boro manager Michael Carrick believes Iheanacho’s experience and talent will be valuable. “Kels has pedigree—he’s been well-known for a long time. He played against us last season, and even though we won, he showed his quality,” Carrick said.

Since arriving, Iheanacho has impressed in training and integrated well with the squad. “He’s desperate to play and has a fantastic personality,” Carrick added. “We have a strong attacking lineup, but squad depth is key.”

Middlesbrough face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane tonight, and Iheanacho could be in contention to make his debut.
