Everton handed double injury boost ahead of Forest showdown as key star ruled out

Vitalii Mykolenko could make his return to Everton’s starting XI in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal after picking up a thigh injury while on international duty with Ukraine. But this week, he’s resumed full training and may be available for selection.

Everton boss David Moyes confirmed the positive update during his Friday press conference.

“Myko’s been back on the training pitch,” Moyes said.

In more good news for the Toffees, Dwight McNeil is also nearing a full return. The winger came off the bench against Arsenal, marking his first appearance since December following a four-month layoff due to a knee injury.

“Dwight is getting back up to speed,” Moyes added. “He’s in and around things and pushing for more minutes.”

However, not all news is encouraging for Everton. Midfielder Jesper Lindstrom has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on Thursday.

“Jesper had a hernia operation yesterday. That likely ends his season,” Moyes confirmed.

“It’s tough for him and for us because he had been hitting form recently and was becoming a valuable part of the squad.”

Everton currently sit 15th in the table, with a comfortable 15-point cushion above the relegation zone heading into this weekend’s fixture.
